The PDF Reader, reimagined.

Introducing… Nitro PDF Reader.

Chances are, if you’re reading this blog, you’ve heard or seen something about our all-new, free Nitro PDF Reader.

Nitro Reader is what happens when you take some of the most driven, passionate, and talented people in the industry — the Nitro team – and create something special. Something we really believe in, and really believe was needed.

Nitro Reader is the fruit of our vision to provide a better option. We hope you enjoy using it.

May 25th marked a pretty momentous occasion for Nitro – and we celebrated in style. A cross-timezone champagne toast (over breakfast for our Melbourne office!) and a sea of pink covered the office, while we got more than a little festive.

By now, you probably know what Nitro Reader is all about – so, rather than have us talk on and on about it (our friends and family will attest to our ability to do exactly that!) we thought it best to summarise some of the highlights from other people. Reviewers, media, and anyone who wasn’t buried to their eyeballs in the project.

If you haven’t had a chance, check out the video below:

Nitro PDF Reader – Get Satisfaction

Press clippings: a few highlights

“Nitro PDF Reader Free does more by default than any free PDF reader currently available, does precisely what it advertises, and does it unobtrusively, rocketing it to the top of the PDF pack.” – Seth Rosenblatt, CNET’s Download.com

“The real appeal over standard viewers…are the annotation and conversion tools. Nitro’s tools handle Word-to-PDF and other document conversions very smoothly, in a way that doesn’t leave many noticeable artifacts…this release is a nice alternative offering for frequent PDF users looking to try something new.” – Kevin Purdy, LifeHacker

“It starts up considerably faster than Adobe Reader making it ideal for users who want to quickly view a pdf document. The pdf reader is an excellent alternative to Foxit Reader.” – Martin, Ghacks.net

“One feature that I found truly inspiring — something I would literally use every day — is a simple button that lets you stamp a PDF form with a scan of your signature…it’s clear that during its beta process, its engineers did think ahead.” – Scott M. Fulton III, Beta News

“One particularly nice feature is Nitro’s ability to add a signature to a PDF document…. Another welcome feature is the ability to save a partially filled interactive form. Acrobat users are familiar with the situation of getting part way through a complex form, only to discover that they can’t save it with the information they’ve already filled in…Nitro PDF Reader lets you save the form and return to it later without losing the information you’ve already added…given its price (free), there’s little reason not to download it and try it out.” – Jake Widman, InformationWeek’s SMB (bMighty)

“Nitro PDF reader is definitely a software worth downloading. Not only does it allow you to read PDF files, it also allows you to edit PDF files, fill-in and save forms and more.” – Keith Dsouza, Techie Buzz

“The Nitro PDF product was noticeably faster and more responsive than its Adobe counterpart… it’s much faster, more compact, and less intrusive on your system…frankly Nitro PDF Professional deserves the “Professional” moniker, while there are many ways in which Adobe Acrobat Professional fails to live up to the cognomen…It’s very seldom I get the chance to work with a software product that makes me want to get down on my knees and thank my lucky stars for being allowed to use its many, varied, and secure capabilities. Nitro PDF is not only one of the select few products that evokes this response from me, it’s right at the very head of that short list.” – Ed Tittel, IT Knowledge Exchange

“There are lots of free alternatives for reading PDFs, but the newly-released (and equally free) Nitro PDF Reader gives them a serious run for their money…I have to say I’m very impressed.” – Angus Kidman, Lifehacker.com.au

“Nitro Reader offers enough to be considered as a serious alternative when it comes to using the software to extract text or images, insert comments, or collaborate with others within the same file.” – Steve Ragan, The Tech Herald

“The bar for free PDF readers just got raised with Nitro’s ability to create PDFs.” – Nick Peers, Download Crew

“The PDF reader offers features and functionality far beyond typical free PDF readers…it has everything you expect from a PDF Reader without having to buy expensive software.” – Kimberly, StopMalvertising

From all of us on the Nitro Team — thank you. Thank you to our users, the reviewers kind enough to put Nitro Reader through its paces, and to all the people who we hope will make the switch.
