If you’ve been following our blog recently you might have noticed we’ve been busy enhancing and expanding the capabilites of our Web browser add-on — PDF Download — for Firefox, Flock and Internet Explorer. Today is no exception.
We have just extended the free Web-to-PDF feature so it can be used with all popular web browsers, including Google Chrome, Safari, Opera, Flock, Firefox and Internet Explorer — and on any platform that will run those browsers.
Our new PDF Download bookmarklet lets you create nice looking PDF copies of any (unsecured) web pages simply by clicking on our Save Page as PDF bookmarklet button — once you’ve added it to your Bookmarks bar.
I’ve seen a few comments and questions online from people asking, ‘Why use PDF Download for web-to-PDF conversions when I have a perfectly good PDF print driver?’ Well, our converter is designed specifically to deal with web pages, both table- and CSS-based ones, which results in a much more accurate layout, better appearance and enhanced usability (as ours keeps all links active). Web pages are notoriously unreliable when printing to PDF or paper — our converter seeks to change that.

To see a demonstration of how you install the PDF Bookmarklet and use it, we’ve put together a quick video tutorial below showing how it’s done using Firefox on a Mac. It works pretty much the same way for all browsers and platforms, but if you have any trouble getting started, just read through the step-by-step instructions we have put together for each web browser on the PDF Download bookmarklet page.

Happy converting!
