We covered PDF Hammer a while back on this blog and are today very pleased to announce it has become the latest addition to the Nitro PDF Software family of free PDF software tools. We’re also pleased to announce that PDF Hammer’s creator, Ben Kramek, is to remain as the lead developer of the service, which we will continue to improve and enhance over the coming months.
If you’re not familiar with the site, PDF Hammer is the first online PDF editor and completely free to use -– enabling you to easily edit pages via a WYSIWYG-style visual editor. Once you upload your PDF files, all pages are displayed inside the Web-browser window, giving you easy viewing, selecting and editing capabilities — all without the need for a PDF viewer or other software to be installed.
Here’s a quick summary of what you can do with PDF Hammer:
- Combine PDF files. Merge or join PDF files together and save as the one PDF file.
- Delete pages. Remove one or more pages from a PDF.
- Rearrange pages. Reorder the pages in your files.
- WSIWYG editing/viewing. (NEW) The visual way of editing adds the ability to zoom in on pages so you can make sure you’re editing the correct page (just double-click on the page to zoom in).
- Lock PDF files. (NEW) Add password protection to your PDF files so only certain people can open them.
- Set document properties. (NEW) Add/edit title, author, subject and keyword metadata to your files.
We think the tool will greatly help occassional PDF users who don’t need and/or have the budget for more serious PDF-related software for business professionals. The site is already live and ready to use. If you go and try it and have feedback for us, please come back to this page and share your thoughts.
