PDF settings
Creating different versions of PDF files
The PDF format has been around for many years and the specification behind it has been updated every few years to incorporate additional capabilities. This means that you need to be careful when you choose the type of PDF you create as users of old versions of popular PDF viewers may not be able to view your files properly.
PrimoPDF lets you create several different types of PDF files. These include:
- 1.2 – Compatible with Adobe Reader/Acrobat version 3.0 or later
- 1.3 – Compatible with Adobe Reader/Acrobat version 4.0 or later
- 1.4 – Compatible with Adobe Reader/Acrobat version 5.0 or later
- 1.5 – Compatible with Adobe Reader/Acrobat version 6.0 or later
Image resolution in PDF files
Lets you set the resolution for the entire document, with larger resolution files typically producing higher quality looking images but a larger file size.
Auto-rotate pages
PrimoPDF automatically rotates the PDF page for the majority of the text to be horizontal. This can be useful when creating PDF files from landscape documents for the pages to be easier to read on a screen.
Open With
Lets you set the target PDF viewer on your computer which automatically opens a newly created PDF.
- Default PDF viewer. Uses the program set as the default PDF viewer in the Windows registry.
- Custom Program. Configures PrimoPDF to automatically export documents to another program rather than the default used by Windows.
Saving PDF
This option helps determine the default behavior when PrimoPDF encounters a duplicate filename to the one being saved in the current location. Here you have several choices:
- If the PDF exists then overwrite or append to the existing document.
- Ask before appending or overwriting document or just do it automatically every time.
Have you tried these settings in PrimoPDF? Which, if any, have you found most useful when creation your PDF files. Share your thoughts below in the comments section.
