    Trying to get an EDITABLE word file converted from a DJVU and PDF file

    Hi,
    Can anyone help / advise me please ? I have got converted files back from Nitro using the PDF to wor service….thanks very much. Great service you provide.

    However, I cant edit them in word…..only view. All the text and diagrams are as pictures.

    I was hoping to be able to alter the text…colour content,etc,etc but cannot.

    It may be because these are not original PDF files I sent you…… I created them from a DJVU file as per below:

    A free way to convert .djvu file to .pdf
    1- Download FreePDF here: http://www.shbox.de/fpxpdownload.htm
    2- Download and Install windjview (I suppose you have done so): http://sourceforge.net/projects/windjview
    3- Open a djvu file with WINDJVIEW
    4- Choose “print” and SELECT FreePDF as the PRINTER.

    Also tried with a PDF created from DJVU file using STDU converter Vers 1.1…… converted file back is again just pics I cant edit…..aaaaargh.

    Can you help me please ????

    Cheers , Rich

      If the original PDF was an image based PDF (that is, there are no text, image objects, just one big image for each page), then you will get the same results in the Word document (our service will convert the image based PDF into an image based Word document).

      We will be adding OCR capabilities to the service later on in the year, which will detect this and perform OCR on the images to provide you with an editable Word document.

    Hi there;

    Successfully uploaded a 7MB pdf the service, but no email with .doc showed up. I dont have an inbound limit on my mail system (I run my own), so Im curious if there is a size limit that nitro will allow.

    no indication of any limit on the site anywhere, so any info would be helpful. as an aside, might make more sense for nitro to put converted doc on a web site available for download for a day, and send the link via mail, rather than send the doc itself.

      We recently updated the file size limit to 12MB. We also recently upgraded the net connection where the files are being delivered from, so time to delivery should be improved.

      There may have been a backlog of conversion jobs whilst we were performing this upgrade, which would delay your delivery. Let us know if you don't see it in the next few hours.

        Hey chris;

        I uploaded the file last night, but I realize that the file is actually 17Mb, not 7, so I guess I blew through the limit. Any way to increase my limit?

        It would be good to post that limit somewhere, and have the uploader notify the user when the limit is exceeded.

        thanks

          Ahh yep, that would be why.

          The limit will be 12mb for the near future, we may increase it down the track a bit. The same technology (PDF to Word) is going to be available in Nitro PDF Professional 6.0 in the next few months. This will allow you to do the same conversions on the desktop (without any file size limits obviously).

    I have a question. If I send a PDF created by Nitro and send it to friends will they be able to open and read it. I only ask because I’m assuming that most people have Adobe and can Adobe read Nitro? PDF’s are cross platform documents so everyone should be able to read it, no matter what programs that have-right?

      Hi Patsy,

      You are absolutely correct. PDF files created by Nitro are according to the ISO standard, and can be open and read in any PDF viewer.

      Thank you!
