Keeping Up with PDF Technologies and Happenings

Our PDF Blog focuses on PDF and how the format can help you use, share and store digital information more reliably. That said, we’re not the only ones who enjoy talking about and sharing our thoughts on PDF. There are many other sites and blogs that you might find interesting. Let’s take a look at some of them.

  • Planet PDF (site) Most popular independent site for PDF users (and owned and run by Nitro PDF Software).  The site has been around for almost a decade and features industry news, tips, in-depth articles, a discussion forum and a PDF software database. Also it includes a popular weekly Planet PDF Newsletter.
  • PDF for Lawyers (blog) PDF from a lawyer’s perspective. The long-running blog helps lawyers work better with an electronic workflow.
  • 4xPDF (blog) A new blog that aims to cover the latest news from the PDF industry.
  • PDFzone (site) Closely resembles a ghost town these days for PDF news but when Don Fluckinger gets the chance to speak his mind, it’s usually worth the listen.

Industry heavyweights & PDF community representatives

  • Inside PDF (blog) PDF architect and a Senior Principal Scientist at Adobe, Jim King, has interesting articles that delve into the PDF format to explain how and why it works the way it does.
  • Wisdom of the PDF Sage (blog) One of the old hands at PDF. Leonard Rosenthol looks at PDF from a technical perspective.
  • Duff Johnson’s PDF Perspective (blog) Long-time expert in areas such as document processing, standards and accessibility — and new CEO of Appligent Document Solutions — Duff offers his opinion on a variety of PDF-related topics.
  • Ted Padova’s AUC Blog (blog) Prolific author and all-round PDF expert, Ted Padova’s occasional blog looks at using PDFs and forms, as well as Adobe’s creative products.
  • AcroTeX PDF Blog (PDF download) from long-time tech whiz D. P. Story. This new publication focuses on the use of rich media in PDF files.
  • Acro bytes (blog) Former Planet PDF and PDFzone editor Kurt Foss regularly wraps up what’s going on among Acrobat users and PDF conference attendees.

Company blogs

A few other PDF-focused companies have their own blogs. They tend to revolve around using the technology produced by the company, but sometimes include more general PDF-related topics.
